Atopic Dermatitis?

Any of you friends familiar with eczema?
Our doctor told us she thought that all Dalton's rashes are from all the slobber of teething. This does make sense.
The boy does slobber a lot, but the skin puckers.
My brother had to take Grady, my nephew, all over Ohio. He was given three different diagnoses before they went to the Cleveland Pediatric Dermatologist Specialist. He gave him the same diagnoses as the first doctor.
While we were at home for Easter weekend my brother was paying attention to his face and thought that it resembled Grady's face and pulled up pictures of eczema.
Now, I've been reading and eczema is hereditary.
It makes sense to me that he might have it;
I'm allergic to:
Red dye #5 (externally) so pretty much any red, pink, purple, or orange lotion or wax
latex
most deodorant (don't worry I don't go around stinky. Dove Powder scent works just fine)
most soaps (Zest is fine. We think it's because that's what I've used since I was little)
most laundry detergents and fabric softeners
And my skin gets so dry that I scratch my legs in my sleep, sometimes causing them to bleed.
To sum it up, I have sensitive, dry skin
Here are some pictures. They aren't as bad as the ones I posted previously. But this is about normal for him.
So like I said this is actually pretty good for his face.
What's your opinion?

  1. my 3 year old niece has eczema reallly bad. She gets it all over her body and her scalp. Does Dalton seem to scratch at his rash?? I know when it is bad it usually becomes very itchy. Are you putting anything on it that helps?

  2. My girls had that too when they were teething, so I really think it's just teething rash. I'm not saying it couldn't be something else instead, but that's pretty normal for them to get some rashes around their mouth when they are teething.

  3. CETAPHIL CETAPHIL CETAPHIL! That is my advice. All three of my boys have eczema. And my husband. Jake and Davon are the worst. Davon would get it on his scalp, but Head and Shoulders cleared it right up. Caden gets it on his face bad. Almost exactly like Dalton. Problem is it opens up and gets infected. I use it on Caden as needed. Jake uses it daily, sometimes twice a day. Davon every other day or more if needed and Luke every other day. My doc said if you have eczema you should be moisturizing it at least twice a day. That helps if we are having an outbreak anywhere. I can get away with less than twice a day though if I keep up on it and watch it. Good luck!

  4. I understand sensitive skin. I have it. But not eczema or allergies. Hopefully it will go away soon but remember that it is an okay thing to have to deal with it.

  5. Hey Kera,
Jericho's baby doctor told me that he has baby eczema. The rash on Dalton's face looks similar. My doctor told me that it mainly will present itself on the torso, but will appear randomly other places as well. Neither Josh or I have eczema, but Josh does have psoriasis, so its possible that it is genetic. My doctor told me to put heavier creams on it, like hand creams, because the regular baby lotions are too watered down. He listed off a bunch of brand names for me, but since I sell Avon, I just use the Moisture Therapy Hand Lotion and it smoothes the rashes out just fine. I think that whatever type of rash it is, the real key is just to keep it moisturized. Hope that helps.
