What Happened on This Day, January 11th

2015
Most weeks Dalton and Lydia are really great during Sacrament meeting. They were really good today. It's so nice to be able to be able to listen to and hear most everything. Tonight is the baptism preview for the new year. I told Jed that in two years we would be going for Dalton. Jed said something to Dalton about it how he will be baptized in a little over two years. With all of the teaching we do at home and also at church I always want our kids to WANT to make the good choices and not feel like they have to, so I said "That's right! If you choose to be baptized." He quickly answered back with "Oh yeah I'm going to be baptized! I can't wait!"

2015
We saw a small blessing today.
Jed's car wasn't running very well and he was for sure that it was going to cost more than the car was worth. I really felt like that wasn't true. With a lot of YouTubing and Googling he thought he knew what the problem was and went to see if he was right. The car shop didn't charge him for the diagnostic test that would have cost $75, because when Jed had first talked to the man he told him he thought he knew the problem and it was it. He also showed Jed a few tips on how to install it himself. Jed was able to get the part and fix it himself for $173.

Dalton had school today and Lydia and I really missed that boy!
He really had fun at school, especially because they had an assembly about birds.
He even got to touch a feather and a bird's leg.

Lydia was sporting her one of a kind pink sweater.
Her Great Aunt Pam knitted this for her and she looked so cute in it.

2015
We had another snow day.
It was fun, but Dalton and Lydia were really getting to each other often.
Most days they are 90% best friends and 10% annoying siblings.
I hope they always see each other as friends.

What Happened on This Day, January 7th

2015
Today was another no school day.
The wind chill was -15. It was miserable.
We were really lazy today.
There wasn't really anything that happened.
Lydia had a crazy high fever last night and got sick which meant 11:00 pm baths for the both of us.
Dalton was such a trooper today. He let Lydia and I recoup from our rough night.
He is such a good boy! I love him to pieces.

2014
This was one of the first times I put Lydia's hair in a ponytail.
Dalton was so funny and cute. He didn't really like it that much because she didn't look like herself.
Lydia was so obsessed with getting in Brutus's kennel. She can be so silly sometimes!

You know, just trying on our special head hand Cool Aunt Amy Jo got for her.

2015

We got a few inches of snow overnight and it was COLD!
School was cancelled and the base was closed.
We LOVE snow days!
We played for quite a while and then we asked the elders to come help us with some acts of service.
Lydia and I were the cheerleaders and Dalton, Jed, and the elders were able to shovel four of our neighbors' driveways. We did this last year too. At our old home I think we did double what we did. All of the driveways here are slanted and also two to three times wider.
It was great experience and I am happy that the kids are learning how fun it can be to serve others.

Oh no! I need to watch myself!
We just tried to call Jed at school because Dalton was missing him and he "just want to hear Daddy".
His phone went to voicemail because of his location in the building
and Dalton said "Aww Dang It!"
Oops!

What Happened on This Day January 5th.

2015

Today was the first day back to school for Dalton and work for Jed. Boy did we miss them!
Dalton did well at school! He said his whole class stayed on green the whole day.
We are all hoping for a snow day tomorrow!

I think this was the best day of Lydia's entire life. I honestly can not think of another day in the last 12 months where she has been this nice and happy.
Any one of these things below could have and most certainly have in the past caused her to have a full blown tantrum.
She found out her Daddy and her Bubby both were not home when she woke up.
She had her 30 month well child appointment.
We went to Marshall's where she toted this stuffed animal and one other. For her amazing behavior at her appointment I let her pick one to take home. She understood and was happy to get to keep one. That is huge for a two and a half year old.

She also sat in the cart happily.
We went to Kohls to exchange something. Again, she sat in the cart.
She actually ASKED to sit in the cart!
She and I went to lunch together and she happily sat in the booster seat and ate almost all of her lunch. Not once did she stand in the booth or try to climb under the table.
She happily sat and waited with me for 35 minutes in Dalton's school parking lot.
She and Dalton played in the playroom together happily.
She ate dinner even though it wasn't her favorite.
She sat for all of Family Home Evening.
She went to sleep in her own big girl bed (this is her fourth night out of the crib and she is doing amazing!)
I just have to document this. We love this little girl so very much. Dalton did not prepare us for Lydia.
She has a sweet heart and is the most giving child we just haven't been able to figure her out.

I love the fact that anytime someone is sad whether in person or on TV Dalton gets so somber and says "He sad because he misses his mommy and daddy". In Dalton's mind what makes you the saddest is missing mommy and daddy. :O)

What Happened on This Day January 4th

 2015

Today was Dalton's first day in the CTR 6 and Lydia's second year in Nursery.
Later this year when the Nursery gets divided again she will be in the older class.
They are both very happy most days to get to go to church and see their teachers and friends.

While at her Hemangioma appointment in Cincinnati,
the doctor discovered Lydia had an ear infection on top of her RSV.
There was a lot of cuddling the next few days.

What Happened on This Day January 3rd

2015

I wasn't feeling well this morning and missed the Primary breakfast. Dalton was so excited to go in his pajamas! When he got home, he was SO excited to tell me whose class he will be in this year. Brother and Sister Smith subbed in his class a couple time this last year and Dalton LOVES them. Sister Smith was so sweet about how cute and sweet Dalton was in the class. Dalton has been blessed with really great teachers each year and this year isn't any different. :)

She also decided to be Daddy's Dish Helper!

 Not Pictured:
(Not So) Dirty Little Secret: Lydia is asleep in my arms. I enjoy attachment parenting and I don't care who knows it.
P.S. She just giggled in her sleep and it was probably one of the top 5 cutest things ever.

2013

Lydia had RSV and needed a lot of treatments.

Word of Advice:
Do NOT brag about feeling good two days in a row
and hint that maybe your morning sickness is subsiding.
It will come back with a vengeance.
