Easter

Easter weekend was a great one. I still get annoyed at myself though. Most of you know that it was also Conference weekend. We still haven't seen any of Conference yet. I can make excuses, like we didn't feel comfortable asking my family to watch it, or that we bought a house right after and were packing and such, and that Jed had a 5 day TDY....blah blah blah.... BUT I am sitting here on the computer, I could be watching a talk or two. I guess I want to watch it with Jed and he is busy anchoring our bookshelf to the wall. Oh look, ANOTHER excuse! We will have watched all the sessions by this time next week or I will be really disappointed in myself. I can't wait to hear all the great things that were spoken!
Back to Easter weekend. :O)
It was filled with family, friends, food, Easter eggs and a hunt, playing, relaxing, and hair cutting.
I didn't take very many pictures.
I took one of my Papaw Jim and one of my Dad. ...you know, I didn't even realize I had done so.
About three weeks ago my Papaw had a large patch of skin cancer removed from his lower back. Luckily it isn't the bad kind. He did have some complications and had to go back a couple times, but he his heeling well.

The second is of my Dad. I've done my fair share of denying that something might be wrong, and we still don't know, but he has had to go through a few different tests because his oncologist suspects that an issue he is having could be prostate cancer. As I type this, I can feel the lump in my throat. It's a lot more real writing it down. I just have to remember that we don't know anything right now. It should take a few more days to receive the results. As I have been researching I learned that prostate cancer is the third deadliest cancer for men. 1 and 2 are Lung and Brain cancer. I'm not sure if this makes me happy or sad. Eighteen years ago my dad fought and beat lung cancer, six months later they found it in his brain. Both times most of the doctors didn't give him much if any hope. His oncologist still calls him his miracle patient. So I tell myself "He beat 1 and 2, he can beat 3!" I have to tell myself that. He is walking around with 1 1/2 lungs and 7/8 of his brain. He is a tough man and if this is his next hurdle I pray that he will have the fight in him.
I don't know why I chose to post about this today. I've kept it mainly to myself for weeks now, just knowing that I have an outlet to go to and let out my hurt and my frustration is comforting. The most comforting thing is knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me and He is there for my dad.
UPDATE: LESS THAN 18 HOURS AFTER WRITING THIS POST AND MY DAD WAS TOLD THE TESTS ALL CAME BACK NEGATIVE!!!
NO CANCER!

Let's Finish the Month of March since April is Almost Over.

I always keep Dalton in his jammies until after his first nap. This pair is one of my favorites. I think babies are too cute in jams!

Here is what has been one of Dalton's favorite pass times lately.

And last but not least. Sam graduated with some pretty awesome honors. We are so proud of him! Sam, Lindsay and the girls (oh and baby Deaton in the tummy) are already down in Florida living. We miss you guys! Have lots of fun in the sun!

Future Track Star?

First off, we are a boring family.
Now that it is beautiful out we've been going for walks and Dalton and I make any excuse to get the stroller out.
It stinks not having a second car.
We are lucky enough to have a couple friends who offer to let Dalton and me tag along, but almost always when those calls come I have something on the agenda that needs to be done that day.

I also have a little anxiety about talking Dalton on play dates right now.
It's so dumb and I know I'm only hurting him by not getting him out with kids, but Dalton PLOWS over anyone and anything that it in his way. It's pretty funny, but I freak out that he is going to hurt someone else.
Also, I don't know how to let Dalton play outside.
He hates the grass. Every time we try to get him to feel it he whines and climbs up our legs.
It's pretty cute, but he won't budge.
I'm sure most babies are this way.
So the next thought would be to put him on a blanket. His first response to blankets is crawl off of it as fast as possible. :O)

I know it will get better once we are at our new house. Right now we really can't put him down in our grass and don't want to put blankets on the ground. Because of the pond in our apartment complex, there are a lot of swans, geese, and ducks. Which means lots of droppings. YUCK! I can just see Dalton stinking some in his mouth!

So what does this have to do with being a track star?
Well, sometimes when it's cold or rainy out I like to play dress up with Dalton. :O)
Taking pictures of Dalton used to be SO easy! I'd just prop him up and shoot.
Now he is all over the place and quick as can be.
That would be reason #1 that he might be a future track star.
Reason #2 Look how cute this little man looks in a track suit!
I know it's a lot of pictures. But I could only narrow our picture shoot down to half! :O)
Any advice would be lovely!

Atopic Dermatitis?

Any of you friends familiar with eczema?
Our doctor told us she thought that all Dalton's rashes are from all the slobber of teething. This does make sense.
The boy does slobber a lot, but the skin puckers.
My brother had to take Grady, my nephew, all over Ohio. He was given three different diagnoses before they went to the Cleveland Pediatric Dermatologist Specialist. He gave him the same diagnoses as the first doctor.
While we were at home for Easter weekend my brother was paying attention to his face and thought that it resembled Grady's face and pulled up pictures of eczema.
Now, I've been reading and eczema is hereditary.
It makes sense to me that he might have it;
I'm allergic to:
Red dye #5 (externally) so pretty much any red, pink, purple, or orange lotion or wax
latex
most deodorant (don't worry I don't go around stinky. Dove Powder scent works just fine)
most soaps (Zest is fine. We think it's because that's what I've used since I was little)
most laundry detergents and fabric softeners
And my skin gets so dry that I scratch my legs in my sleep, sometimes causing them to bleed.
To sum it up, I have sensitive, dry skin
Here are some pictures. They aren't as bad as the ones I posted previously. But this is about normal for him.
So like I said this is actually pretty good for his face.
What's your opinion?

It's Time!

Time to Prepare for Swimming Weather!
Jed, Dalton, and I went to a few stores a couple weeks ago.
We disagreed multiple times. (Who knew Jed would have such an opinion!)
But at last, we found Dalton's first swim trunks and rash guard at Old Navy.
Here are some picture of the little lad ready to go swimming!

One thing is for sure:
Dalton inherited his momma's stubby legs.
I guess that's just less skin to worry about with sunburn. ;O)
