Well the last couple weeks have been a little crazy around here.
Dalton start getting sick over three and a half weeks ago.
Being a new momma the nurses tend to think I'm crazy or something.
I called, on a Thursday when he had a cold for 6 days and started a low grade fever.
The nurse told me to give him Tylenol and if he still had a fever in a few days to call back.
(I knew that sounded stupid, but I'm just a first time mom....she is a nurse....right?)
When I called back on Monday and talked to the nurse she told me that I should have never been told that....
So at this point Dalton had a cold for 10 days, a sore nose, wouldn't lay down to sleep, and acted like it hurt to swallow....HELLO he needed to see a doctor. (Mind you EVERY time I call I am on hold for over 20 minutes, which I totally understand and am not upset by that, lots of sick babies....AND everytime we have to go in Jed has to take sick leave because we only have one car....so just remember that through the whole story. Also by this time I have caught the nasty cold and sore throat.
So we get to the doctor's office and they check him out and our doctor says she knows it's highly unlikely for a baby that young to have strep throat, but she wanted to rule it out.... So Dalton gets a nasty swab test done and we wait. And it comes back positive. Poor baby. So they send us off with a prescription and she checks my throat and tells me it is red and to get a swab. Luckily our doctor (who I went to the week before for migraines...another day Jed had to take leave...) is in the same building.
I get a swab and the rapid result test said negative.
We go off with our sad babe. Dalton off course was feeling terrible until about Friday (a week ago today). BUT then on Sunday late he starts acting like something is bothering him.
SO Monday comes and I'm on the phone.
We get another appointment after the nurse tries to tell me nothing is wrong. We go in, and guess what.... Dalton has an ear infection and sinus infection. She gives us a different prescription and asked how my results came back and I said they were negative. She was really surprised and asked if that was even the more precise results from the lab. I didn't know so she told me to stop by and make sure they sent it out and if not have them retest me. The receptionist looks at my file, sees that it wasn't sent out and tells me I'll have to come back the next day (Tuesday...3 days ago)....another trip for Jed.
Tuesday morning right as Jed was leaving Dalton had this terrible coughing spout and Jed's heart was breaking for his baby boy and decided to stay home with us. This was a huge blessing, because at this point I am sick as a dog. I ended up canceling my appointment....I know I know...my mom already read me the riot act. But I really didn't want to go there again and be looked at like I'm an idiot or an over protective mom.
But after weeks of holding Dalton almost every moment (I mean literally sitting him down long enough to go potty was torture for him), buying a cool mist humidifier, 3 boxes of tissues, 2 different types of antibiotics, lots of extra poopy diapers caused by said antibiotics, lots of cat naps while momma holds Dalton in an upright position, lots of tears cried...by baby and momma, and much more excitement...
Dalton has gone to bed in his own crib and seems to defiantly be on the mend and the lesson is learned.
Our pediatrician totally respects my mommy instincts and so do I.
SORRY huge rant. I'm just so thankful our terrible three weeks were cake when we think of the eternal perspective and that it was just a cold, strep throat, sinus infection, and ear infection and not something much more serious.
Now for some pictures...Because that's why you are really here.
These are the AMAZING Chocolate Chip Zucchini Muffins on my recipe blog. Boy were these things Awesome! We made them well over a month ago. But better late than never!
Dalton is wearing this outfit to humor me. Before I was baptized I was in a sorority. AMB...It's a local one. Anyway our mascot is Vivian the Fox...She we were known as the "Foxy Ladies"... So I'm not trying to say I think I'm a fox... :O) It just so happens I'm a real one.

For Dalton's 6 month celebration we got his hand prints in a plaster heart. He was trying to figure out what Momma and Daddy were doing to him. :O)
For Halloween we just stayed at home (of course since baby boy was sick). Sad story...no one came to get candy from us, so no one saw how cute he was...that's ok though. Less germs!
The cake is my second cake from class. The flowers are really rough looking, but I'll get the hang of it. I did miss the last class because that was the day we found out Dalton had strep. I'll get to make it up later this month, so stay tuned.
And this is a cute picture of my boys. Like I said earlier, Dalton has not allowed us to put him down. Well last night when Jed got home I told him I had to make chicken noodle soup and nothing else would do. So this is Daddy and Dalton working on the chicken. Jed felt so bad that I was so sick but I was still the one that had to make dinner.... I kept trying to explain that my boys were taking good care of me. I HATE taking the chicken off the bones, and Jed carried ButterBall around (17 and a half pounds gets VERY heavy!) So I just rolled out the noodles (This is were having the Ostlers near by would be perfect...Erik is an awesome noodle roller...he was taught from the very best) and cut up the celery and carrots. It wasn't much work and Jed says it tastes great! O'm hoping to be able to taste it in the next day or so. LOL :O)
I just realized how often I use ...... and ( ) when I write. That has to be so annoying to y'all. I don't know why I do that, I guess I just type how I talk AND we ALL know how I have to tell stories within stories. But I am REALLY sorry if it drives you nuts!
