So here we are...Jed has two more semesters until he graduates here at Utah State and I graduate at the end of November and we are having our first baby! It's really soon to tell but we just couldn't wait to tell the world! We are due on May 8th (Jed graduates on May 1st)! Wow we are so excited!
Well so far this ship we're sailing on hasn't had a smooth ride. :O) My morning sickness started 12 days ago and the last four were so bad that I was in tears multiple times. Last night Jed gave me a blessing and I've felt a lot better. We also think I had the flu on top of the morning sickness (and why is it called MORNING sickness??) because I had a fever and was freezing. Poor Jed is already feeling the pressure of me needing him a lot more (especially in the kitchen). He is just so amazing I love him to death!! He is going to be such a great daddy!
So here are our names:
If the baby is a boy he will be named Dalton David Butler. Dalton was my grandma's maiden name and David is my dad's name.
If the baby is a girl she will be named
Avery Elizabeth Butler or Avery Kate Butler. Elizabeth was my great-great-grandma's name and it's my middle name. And Kate is my great-grandma's name AND when I talk to my mom on the phone she always asks how Katie is doing. She always wanted my name to be Kate....so we will see!
This is probably one of the most random posts I've written... and I blame it all on not leaving the house for 4 days! :O)
So I need so feed back from those of you that are way more knowledgeable at pregnancy. My big problem is that I feel like I have to eat something every 10-15 minutes to keep the nausea down. I mean ALL day! I really have begun to hate eating! Is this a normal thing and what did you eat??? Any other advice is WELCOME!!! :O)
That's it for this post. Again, sorry about the randomness!!!!

First of all CONGRATULATIONS! You guys will be such great parents. I have been waiting for this since I met you! Second of all, fevers are not apart of morning sickness. I would second the flu thought. I had the flu twice when pregnant with Lucas and it was the most horrible thing.
ReplyDeleteIt is totally normal to hate eating during this horrible, difficult time of pregnancy. I have just now started eating things again. Obviously you will have things that you absolutely have to stay away from (For me, onions, garlic, any kind of unhealthy/junk food). Some of the things that have gotten me through are: Nutrigrain bars, dry cereal, TOAST, TOAST, and more TOAST, and I always drink TONS of water. It is easier to throw up when you are fully hydrated. Sorry if that grosses you out. With Caden I ate soup, mostly tomato. Sometimes I could do crackers, wheat thins usually. The trick is to find something that helps and eat it until it doesn't help anymore. When I was working and pregnant with Caden, I took a box of cereal just about everywhere.
Don't worry! It gets better! I am officially in my favorite part of pregnancy. I have cravings and eat whatever I want and I can feel the baby move all the time!
Congratulations again! Oh, and VERY cute names. Since we are so far apart, I am thinking about stealing your boy name. j/k I am at a loss for any more boy names.
Kera! I am so excited for you! I hope you feel better though!!! Your names are so cute!!! I have a friend in one of my classes this year named Avery...I had never really heard it before but I love it! Good thing you are moving to Ohio when we do so we can see the little munchkin :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally going to steal any advice you get off this blog because I haven't found anything that helps either. I hope you start feeling better soon, we miss you!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that from a lot of people that the only way they don't feel sick is if they are constantly eating. You just have to keep something on your stomach at all times. The drinking a ton is good advice. When I was sick, sometimes water would make me feel better. The thing about 'morning' sickness is that it's such a personal thing. You just have to try a bunch of things until you figure out what works cause everyone is different. Sometimes the stuff that's not so great for you is the only thing that sounds good so eat it! I'm serious. I took the pregnancy class at BYUI and the teacher was a nurse. She said if a bag of doritos is all you can keep down, well then eat that. You just have to stay hydrated and have some nutrients of some kind in your body. And I think it's called "morning" sickness is just cause for the most part for the majority of women, they are the worst in the morning. Like I said, I was sick all day and almost worse at night so.... As far as advice goes, take what you want and leave what you don't want. Everything about pregnancy is completely a personal thing.
ReplyDeleteI just had to say CONGRATS! I hope the yuckies (as I call them) don't last too much longer. I never threw up, but got nausious a lot. I would eat cereal, yougart, bananas, toast, etc. Good Luck! I love the names you picked out.
ReplyDeleteHey Kera! What adorable names for the baby. I love when the names really mean something, but are cute too :-)
ReplyDeleteYou've had some great advice already, but I'll tell you, I ate tons of pretzels (the little kind) I drank those nutritional shakes too, but not everyone can handle milky stuff.
But I have to warn you, whatever you eat lots of during this morning sickness phase, you will probably never want to eat any for the rest of your life! To this day I can't touch a pretzel :-(
It will get better, I assure you. Stay positive and remember what it's all for. A little baby! yay!
Don't forget Elizabeth is Bridgette's middle name (I'm not pitching- just point it out) ;) Toast is helpful when your pregnant.. eventually milk products worked well.. milk or ice cream (help cool that sore throat from all the throwing up I did). Especially ginger on vanilla ice cream (okay I know it sounds weird but I swear it worked for me.. LOL). lots of crackers (especially saltines). drink lots (carry a water bottle with you- you're body gets dehydrated really easily when prego and is usually ironically a cause for morning sickness). anyhow I gotta go to the store soon. Love you!!!
ReplyDeleteKera!! congrats congrats! you and jed are going to be adorable parents! im so excited about our new developing friendship ;) but i hope you get feeling better.. morning sickness-- neither of those words sound fun :(
